Happy Leap Year Day! It’s a tradition (in Ireland and Britain anyway) that on Leap Year Day, the woman may propose marriage by only in a Leap Year! If a marriage proposal was refused by the man, compensation was deemed to be a pair of leather gloves, a single rose, $1, and a kiss. In Greece, it is considered unlucky to marry in a Leap Year and some would actually avoid marriage in that year. The owners of 5 Star, Debbie & Lloyd Little, were actually married this day, 40 years ago! Debbie says it was a premeditated plan by her smart husband to only have to buy her an anniversary gift every 4 years (haha). She says that’s okay though, because she married the man of her dreams. Happy Anniversary Debbie & Lloyd!
It means something different to everyone. I was reading about different traditions and thought I’d share some with you!
Have a Happy Leap Day!
