Trail to Natural Bridge

The original trail is the most popular trail to hike to the Natural Bridge. The trail goes up .25 miles to the trailhead that is behind the Hemlock Lodge. From that trailhead you can see the steepest part of the trail. Along this trail there is five trail shelter’s, three of them were built during the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The original trail climbs over 400ft through the forest of white pines, rhododendron, & tulip tree. It ends beneath the span of Natural Bridge. You can access the top of the bridge by going through a natural fracture on the other side of the arch. This trail is 0.75 miles total, elevation change is 420 feet, and difficulty is rated moderate.
