Stargazer’s Dream

The cabin was cute and close to enough to town for quick trips but secluded enough for privacy. The only downside was that the cabin was very cold despite having the heaters on. And there were several wasp in the cabin. We killed 16! The hot tub was nice on the first night but after the first day the water smelled very strong of sewage. There wasn’t a chlorine floater in the water, if there had been I think the water would have been fine. All and all it was a good trip!

We got everything we expected from this place. Hot tub is a gem, nothing is better after day of hiking, especially when it is under 40 outside. The cabin itself is all wood inside, very pretty, combined with lots of windows makes you feel part of the surrounding nature. Overall, the cabin is well equipped, small charcoal grill and fire pit would be put to good use if we had time. Inet is very slow, but covers for poor to none cell reception and just about enough to do some area googling. foodfew places to eat are about 15 min away, nice coffee shop. lots of good hiking close by, it is convenient location. no need for 4x4 to get here. all in all we are happy with our stay. it is a good value for 4 ppl, for two of us felt bit steep. yet again, that hot tub on the deck is priceless!

Perfectly cozy space for two couples for a weekend get away, would definitely come back! Super clean including the hot tub. Note to future renter: kitchen has all the necessary equipment but no food basics like salt/pepper/oil.

This cabin was beautiful. We loved the rooftop patio! Perfect location and perfect place for a short getaway. The only thing to keep in mind is that internet is spotty at best (both cell phones and the Wifi). It’s ok for email/texts/etc., but don’t expect to work remotely and have Zoom meetings or stream Netflix. Otherwise, super awesome!!!

Wonderful property!

This place was super cute and perfect layout for 2 couples going on a quick get away!!! The cabin is simple but very nice and roomy. We loved the deck and the firepit. The hot tub is such a nice addition to the cabin. We found out that there was a charcoal grill available and got to grill some food which was nice. I would definitely stay here again and the view is gorgeous!

The cabin was clean and well-maintained. The WiFi was spotty at best, so if you’re looking for a mostly unplugged vacation, this is a great spot!

Wonderful cabin! It was a great place to relax after spending the day on the trails. If complete privacy is what you are searching for in a cabin, just a heads up, there are cabins on either side of the Stargazer’s Dream cabin, this did not impact our stay at all but I was surprised to see other properties so close. The driveway is quite steep but manageable.

We had a wonderful weekend at stargazers dream! There were 4 adults, and the bedroom arrangements were perfect for 2 couples. Check-in was quick and easy. Host was quick to answer any questions we had. There were quite a few bugs in the rental, but that is to be expected when you're in the woods. The hot tub and firepit were awesome after a long day of hiking, however the fire area could be leveled for a safer, more comfortable experience. The rental is secluded enough for privacy, but only a 15-20 minute drive to most sites. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would return in the future. Make sure to pack extra necessities like toilet paper, garbage bags, bath and beach towels, etc.

Great for what we needed. The location is an easy 15-20 minute drive to/from nada tunnel. The view from the lower deck and windows was perfect. Note there are two other cabins on either side. One is under construction but no work happened while we were there. It didn’t bother us that it wasn’t completely private but good to know if you’re looking for something more secluded.

The only truly disappointing aspects of this stay were the lengthy disclosures and the septic smell on the observatory deck. The disclosures left me stressed about remembering what to do, what not to do, and felt like a cumbersome list of “do this or be charged $25, $50, $100, etc..” The last thing I needed after getting away from a stressful job is to worry while on vacation. There are TVs in every room with Roku but you’re charged $50/day if you stream. Though with hiking, hot tub, fire pit, and other activities we found little time or reason to turn the tv on. If you have to call maintenance after hours (7pm) it’s a $25 charge and if you lock yourself out its $50 charge to get back in. If you move any furniture, you’ll get charged for that too.

The upper deck smells horrible, to the point of being unable to spend more than a few minutes. It wasn’t too big a deal but kind of disappointing given the potential of the space. Having a fire going does help a little with the foul smell.

The hot tub was fantastic after a full day of hiking. It does take a while for it to heat up if you arrive on the day they refill it but once warm *chefs kiss.*

The cabin itself stays perfectly warm or cool with the temp units in every room.

The fire pit was a delight.

The bed was comfortable. The sheets were clean but we were slightly suspicious of the comforters as there was a noticeable stench in one.

The kitchen was stocked with utensils, pots/pans, cups/plates, coffee maker/filters, toaster, knives/cutting board, cork screw, blender, and ice cube trays. There was also dish soap, sponges, and a drying rack (wash your dishes or be charged $25). No cooking oil. Toilet paper and paper towels provided.

There is also a washer/dryer, which comes in handy if you need to dry wet suits or stay long enough to need clean stuff. Bring laundry detergent.

Check-in/out happens at a general store off the main exit near subway. It was easy, no complaints.

Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful spot. Quiet, secluded, close to everything.

The Stargazer offers the perfect location for being out in the scenery but without too much of a drive. We were able to get there in cars without 4WD.
The bedrooms on separate floors for us with the adjoining bathrooms worked out really well for our group.
You will not have a ton of cell-phone service, and we loved that. It allowed us to have a much better trip with each other.
The rooftop deck is quiet and off the second floor. We enjoyed seeing the clear nights and enjoying coffee up there in the mornings.
We felt the cabin had all the amenities and charm we needed.
We enjoyed the fire pit, the hot tub, and the lovely large windows.
Truly a perfect location and cabin for a small group to enjoy some peace and solitude. Would absolutely stay there again when traveling to RRG.

Didn’t get to stay at Star Gazers but stayed at Sprite Lake Manor and it was fantastic! The road to get there was pretty challenging considering it was covered in ice and snow but we made it happen and it was worth it! The cabin was amazing and in great shape. The hot tub was a great touch and all in all it was a great experience!

Perfect for a little getaway!! Looks just like the pictures.

The stargazer is a cozy getaway near RRG off the beaten path. The hot tub is wonderful after a long day of hiking. While the cabin does not have elaborate decor, it does have the essentials (coffee maker, toaster, cooking utensils, etc.) We found the bed to be quite comfortable. Some guests have raised concern about the fly traps — while not overly appetizing, I would rather have the flies trapped than flying around.

The check-in/check-out process was fairly painless; however, you do have to travel to the cabin office which is right off of the highway. The internet service is fairly slow and streaming is not advised, definitely download your music to your device(s) beforehand.

Overall, we had a wonderful time and if the price stays consistent, we would return to stargazer when staying near RRG. Recommendations: Daniel Boone coffee shop, Miguel’s Pizza, Thatcher’s BBQ.

Stargazer’s Dream is a great place to get away, relax, and make memories! The beds are extremely comfortable! The rooftop patio is unique and definitely where the cabin gets its name!

We had an absolutely beautiful stay!
This cabin does feel a little more commercial, there aren’t as many homey touches as with some other Airbnbs, but we were very comfortable.
As mentioned in other reviews, there was a little bit of a smell on the roof, but not so much that we didn’t enjoy our time up there. The wifi situation was a little disappointing (part of the policy is no streaming) but we were prepared for a few rainy days so we had books and games and brought a DVD player.
We enjoyed our morning coffee watching the many birds from the deck or the hot tub, which was an unexpected pleasure! We were looking for an isolated getaway, and Stargazer delivered. We barely talked to another human the whole time we were there, but it wasn’t too far of a drive if we needed to run out for something.
We did lock ourselves out once, and they were so quick to come rescue us and were so so sweet about it.
Just a couple notes: if you’re staying for awhile, I’d recommend bringing dish sponges and a doormat for inside the front door. We were there during some unseasonably warm weather, and were kept company by a few ladybugs. There aren’t a ton of hooks in the bathroom, but the bedrooms are pretty well equipped. Overall a lovely, relaxing experience.

Great small cabin!

We had a really nice stay in the cabin. The two king-sized beds and en-suite bathrooms were perfect for a small family. The cabin was really clean and comfortable, and perfect for a family that will spend most of the time out doors (including a nice stargazing deck and a hot tub). There weren't really any indoor amenities except for the TVs (note that the wifi was pretty slow), so you'll need to bring your own entertainment such as games, books, etc.

Wonderful place to stay. If you are older or have difficulty walking there are steep stairs to navigate inside and out. The view is great.

We were originally supposed to stay in the Stargazers Dream Cabin, but unfortunately the road was blocked due to construction. Thankfully Robert and the team at 5 Star Cabins worked to find us a replacement stay as soon as possible! We ended up staying in Spirit Lake Manor and it was absolutely beautiful!!
The cabin itself was really nice and functional inside, had plenty of pots, pans, dishes, and space to cook, and the outside deck was perfect for watching the sky at night or sitting on the porch swing in the morning.
The remoteness was amazing, we had stayed in Louisville for a couple nights so being in the middle of the woods was so nice. The road is a little narrow, but we left in the morning and came back in the evenings without any issues or meeting traffic. Checking in was easy, just used the directions they give you and you'll have no issues finding the place! Definitely bring a fishing pole for catch and release, it was fun just watching the fish swimming too!

The place is nice and secluded but close to a lot of attractions. Definitely a nice getaway from the busyness off everyday life

Beautiful cabin in a great location! Only downside was all of the new builds going up right next door. Our water line was cut, thankfully this was on the last day, a few hours before check out. It was a very peaceful stay, hopefully it will remain peaceful after the newer cabins are finished.

Beautiful place and great location! About 10 minutes from the Natural Bridge Trail and other attractions. We enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub!

Definitely a sight to see! We only spent 3 nights here and are dying to come back. Absolutely beautiful view and away from everything so you feel super secluded. Absolutely perfect as a getaway!

Great place for our 20th anniversary. Very responsive, clean, and just a relaxing place to be for a few nights. Hope to stay again in the future.

Great location and cabin.

Stargazer’s Dream was a great place to stay for my husband and I. The cabin was cozy, had a nice kitchen with plenty of cookware and a few spots to hang out as well. We enjoyed that it was close enough to both the nature/parks/hiking while also being within an hour drive of attractions like Woodford Reserve Distillery and the Kentucky Horse Park. It is a bit tricky to find in the dark, but that was our fault for coming in so late since we left after a work day. Check in the next morning was a breeze, and check out was easy as well with the drop box.

Great spot!

The cabin had gorgeous views, very clean! There is no dishwasher so load up on the paper plates. When we arrived we were greeted by a very cute & friendly cat. Not sure if it lived nearby or what but that sweet kitty spent the weekend on our porch. Just a heads up if he pops up. The roof top porch was our favorite place to hang. Perfect place for a little R&R without our kids. The grill was a little hard to light but that could be the charcoal we used. Had lots of necessities for cooking. It has a fire pit that isn’t listed in the pics of the cabin which is nice. Great place and will visit again

Great week long trip for my husband and I. Very clean and extra relaxing. Super glad we got to stay before the cabins on both sides were finished and rented.

The Stargazer's Dream was a peaceful retreat. The dual king suites offered privacy for each couple and the suites were spacious and comfortable. The roof top deck was the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee and take in the scenery. The cabin was very easy to find based on navigating straight out of the Airbnb app. At first, I did not realize that I needed to stop by Five Star Cabin Rentals in Slade to pick up the keys and fill out some paperwork but a simple phone call initiated through the app provided quick resolution. The cabin offers an excellent private location while still near in proximity to many of the local sights.

perfect cabin for a weekend in red river gorge

Great, rustic cabin and an ideal home base to enjoy the area. Kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed. The place was clean and inviting. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a fire ring to enjoy an evening fire (that had not been mentioned and hadn't appeared in photos we saw beforehand). We couldn't take advantage of the rooftop deck much because of a strong smell of septic tank up there. Oddly, that was the only place we noticed the smell, but it was strong.

Great cabin! The cabin is as beautiful as the pictures and was extremely clean. Everything was really well stocked and we really enjoyed our stay. I definitely recommend this cabin however I would like to mention a couple of things.

1) The AC/heating units in this cabin were very finicky. On the second night of our stay, we woke around 4-5AM absolutely freezing. During the daytime and with the sunlight, the cabin warms up significantly. Once we figured out how to get the units to work though (prior to changing any settings you need to turn off the unit and turn back on after changing) , it wasn't a problem. The technician also said he's been working on laminating instructions to put in all the cabins so this shouldn't be too big a problem in the future.

2) This is a cabin so don't expect it to be critter free, regardless of how pretty and refined it looks. We encountered a couple of bugs and spiders but nothing that would keep me from coming back to this cabin (and I am terrified of bugs)

3) Due to this location and RRG in general, there is barely any data on phones but you can still get some signal for calls depending on your provider. The wifi is a bit spotty in this cabin but it was still usable and we were able to enjoy ourselves with some patience.

4) The driveway is a little bit steep.

Other than the notes above, everything was perfect!

This cabin was WONDERFUL! So clean, and the view from the rooftop deck was incredible, especially at night! The mattresses were very comfortable, and the layout was lovely for us! If you go in the next few months or so be prepared that there is construction occurring on two other cabins quite close, but that was not very distracting day or night as we vacationed Friday-Sunday. All in all we would definitely come back here! RRG is always jaw dropping and the host was very accessible and responsive.

It was a beautiful place but you won’t have the same experience we had when the other two cabins are ready for people unless you have your groups in there together
