Overall a really cute cabin! Check in was easy and painless—they even have availability for late check ins if needed. The driveway is VERY steep and the access road to get to the cabin is narrow and steep, so I would recommend bringing a vehicle with all-wheel drive. The cabin itself is very nice, the fireplace was a bit finicky and didn’t always work, but the hot tub worked great and was awesome after long hikes. The kitchen has very basic essentials (plates, glasses, silverware, pot, pan, cooking spoons/spatula, and a knife block), but little else. Plan on bringing most cooking necessities if you plan to cook (oil, seasoning, tongs, grill tools, etc). The beds are comfortable, but very squeaky so we often woke each other up moving around/getting up in the night. The pillows and blankets are very thin and light so bring extras if you prefer/come in the colder months. There are strict policies on taking out your own trash, doing the dishes, and collecting all of the towels and putting them in the tub following your stay. I did feel it was a bit much to charge $50-60 cleaning fee when you are essentially doing half of the work, but either way the cabin is overall clean for being in the middle of the woods. Overall a good place to stay!

Great spot. The cabin was cozy and close to all the sights we wanted to see. Will definitely be back to stay at one of Robert’s rentals!

What a beautiful cabin. Fantastic location for all the hikes/restaurants in Red River Gorge. Check-in was super easy even after hours, and the cabin was excellently clean when we arrived. Hot tub worked great, deck was awesome for morning breakfasts. One note is that the driveway is quite steep and you will probably need four-wheel drive. Overall great experience!

Awesome place and great location to climb, and see the Red River Gorge. Expect steep hills to access the place, however; i wouldn't recommend a car without all wheel drive.

The cabin is beautiful and spacious. Everything was very clean and ready to use. Make sure you bring all of your food in, and maybe a can opener if you need one. Missing some basic supplies.

The covered deck is perfect to sit outside if it’s raining. You do hear the highway during the day, but quiet at night.

As others have stated, the driveway climb up to the cabin is a very steep grade. I was even nervous in our SUV. But very easy to find cabin with the directions.

We loved the upstairs loft area! Do make sure you are able to climb stairs as the cabin is not handicap accessible. You will have the flight of stairs (seen in the photo) to navigate to get inside.

We checked in after hours and it was easy for us to get the key to get inside. Do be aware that the door will close and lock behind you! You need your fob at all times or you will get locked out.

The communication was excellent between the host during booking and prior to arrival.

We loved our stay and will hope to be back!

Had a lovely stay here with our family of 4. Easy check in, good value when compared to hotels in the area and you get much more room and a beautiful cabin all to yourself. The driveway is intimidating at first but no problem to get up and down. Relatively comfy beds, working hot tub, beautiful porch, functioning kitchen and bathrooms. The area is great if you're doing hikes or kayaking, everything was about 10-30 min from here it was perfect as far as accessibility.

The Mountain Rose was a very nice, clean cabin. It was tucked away at the end of the road. The driveway is definitely steep with very little room to turn a bigger vehicle around. The hot tub was very relaxing and clean, it did appear to randomly cycle on which added some noise when sitting outside on the porch. There are strairs going up to the cabin as well as a spiral staircase going to the loft. The amount of stairs and lack of flat space around the cabin were not as toddler friendly as we had hoped. Our kid is super clumsy though so it just added some extra challenge. Overall we had a great stay with at Mountain Rose and would definitely come back. The location was great and we were very close to hiking in the Gorge and the Natural Bridge. Our timing was not ideal as there was 3 day music festival going on and you could hear the music all day from inside and outside the cabin. The festival venue must have been super close, it was definitely not the time for a nature getaway. The cabin definitely still provided a nice getaway for a few days. Would recommend a stay at the Mountain Rose.

Upon entering the cabin, it was very clean and neat. There were more amenities than necessary, but it was nice to be able to cook meals at the cabin instead of drive 25+ miles for food each time. The cabin is in a great location, the only caveat was having loud neighbors right in eye’s distance partying until 1 AM. Would stay again, but at another cabin.

Driveway may be problematic in slippery conditions. Beautiful setting and a lot of recreational activities close by. Office is helpful and the coffee shop has some pantry staples. Great hiking !

Overall we had a good stay. The only issue was the room wasn’t cleaned when we arrived. Dirty towels and beds. Found several dead roaches. The company came right out to clean it and offered us a free night to make it right which I though was nice of them. Great location very close to the highway. I did think it might be more remote from the pictures but you can hear cars on the main road from the cabin.

Beautiful cabin, amazing view. Perfect to get away for a bit into nature. I recommend bringing your own groceries/food since the the nearest stores are a bit far. The staff at check in weren’t wearing masks which was disappointing, but the check in was speedy enough where I didn’t have to be in there long. Overall a great trip!

We very much enjoyed our stay. The place was clean, and the hot tub worked perfectly. The pool table is in pretty rough shape though, so if you're looking forward to loads of fun around the billiards table, you'll be a bit dissapointed in that regard. Otherwise we were very happy with the experience.

Mountain Rose was a beautiful location. I did not have a bad stay, but there were a few things that felt off- like the high expectation for cleanliness while leaving a dish soap bottle filled with water and a splash of soap with no sponge, as well as the filthy dish rack that was left to dry with. I wish I had known previously there was no WiFi, but that was my error because I didn’t see it on the listing.
We loved staying at the mountain rose! by Kody 03/09/2020
We loved staying at the mountain rose! It was just what we needed to slow down a bit- we had 2 kids with us and we loved sitting on the porch and watching nature. My husband and I had a fire every night and we loved the hot tub- the fireplace was super cozy! Would definitely go here again
Cabin is nice and clean... by Nathan 04/21/2019
Cabin is nice and clean with decent views of the surrounding landscape. Cabin is situated on a small road very near the highway with about 8-10 other properties managed by the same group. Host was responsive and easy to work with. From here you are about a 5 min drive from the Natural Bridge and other outdoor attractions. There is a gas station nearby for grabbing some basic sundries.

We had a great time with our family at the cabin. The location was great- close to Natural Bridge and hiking in the Gorge. Loved the hot tub after a day of hiking and the kids loved the pool table.

Nice cabin we overall had a good time.
Great location... by Meghan 03/12/2019
Great location - super close to all the essentials (especially as a climber!) and has a nice view overlooking Slade. Hot tub was very clean and the house had a nice log cabin vibe! Did encounter a few extra bugs than we would ideally hope for, but they were very helpful in providing a solution.
