Property Description
Relax “Along The Ridge” (previously known as Amongst The Whispering Pines) where you’ll be surrounded by beautiful trees, large boulders and beautiful ridgeline - enjoy the view from the porch or the hot tub or at the base of the ridge!
Property Details
Along The Ridge has exclusive trails – that’s right, EXCLUSIVE trails for you and your group only – that lead up to and around the property.
There is also a private fire pit area at the end of the driveway.
When you’re ready to explore beyond the property, you can visit many of the most popular attractions, restaurants and trails in a matter of minutes.
The Natural Bridge, Red River Gorge Zipline, The Gorge Underground (kayaking UNDER the ground!), Kentucky Reptile Zoo, Thrillsville Adventure Park, Mill Creek Lake (fishing, swimming, kayaking), Nada Tunnel, La Cabana Mexican Restaurant, Miguel’s Pizza, Red River Rockhouse, Sky Bridge Station, and more are approximately 15 minutes (or LESS) from the property.
It is recommended to use an AWD or 4x4 vehicle when you visit Along The Ridge. Not only is the road leading up the mountain steep, but so is the driveway.
There are plenty of ways to enjoy your time Along The Ridge.
Hot tub- This is a great place to start your day. Relax and get your muscles ready for a day of adventure! Of course, the hot tub is also a great place to finish your day and if it’s wintertime, it’s a great place to be ANY time of the day! So, whether you’re preparing for a hike or relaxing/recharging your muscles after a long day’s hike, make sure you find your way to the hot tub.
Your group should spend at least half of a day touring the property. There are multiple trails that provide an experience like few others in the Gorge… you’ll see what I mean when you get along the ridge! You’ll also encounter huge boulders, a variety of trees and, remember, you could also encounter some wildlife – be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Bedrooms- with 2 queen beds, 1 full-size bed and a space in the finished basement to sleep (bed to be added in June, currently bunkbeds are in place), Along The Ridge is big enough to hold two smaller families or one larger family.
Internet & TV- You will be able to make phone calls, send/receive text messages, check emails and social media, but do NOT expect to stream video (ie Netflix) from the property. It is possible to stream from one TV or device at a time, but even that is not very reliable as you’re in a very remote location.
Kitchen- fully equipped with practically everything you need to make breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Living/dining space is an open layout that features a one-of-a-kind spiral staircase that leads to two bedrooms and full bathroom. There is a 40” smart TV in the living room and a dining table that could fit up to 8 people.
The finished basement is a perfect place for the kids to play board games (plenty to choose from!), watch TV, read, nap/sleep and more.
The basement also has a bathroom and full-size laundry machines.
There is also a private fire pit area at the end of the driveway.

We loved our time at Whispering Pines. The property is beautiful, with plenty of space inside the cabin. We had 3 queen beds in separate bedrooms and one twin/full bunk on the bottom level. Our group loved coming back to the hot tub after a full day of climbing. The kitchen has all the basics for cooking dinner and breakfast during our stay, and there's a campground-style grill near the hot tub outside.
The only issue we had was the AC was not working well when we arrived. It was the first week of warm weather, and it turned out the unit needed to be charged. The maintenance team did a great job of getting it fixed and cooling again! Everyone at 5-Star was super friendly and helpful.

We stayed at Whispering Pines for a weekend getaway at Red River Gorge. Everything was top notch and the location is perfect. It is very close to natural bridge and trail heads that take you into the gorge.

Cabin was well situated-- Very close to Natural Bridge and RRG!! The driveway and road to the cabin is steep and rough so recommend SUV and/or all wheel drive!!

The location was very nice.
The people working the check-in were also nice.
The house, was also pretty nice.
A couple things (like the hot tub) were not working.
And kitchen supplies were pretty lean.
But, overall, a pretty enjoyable place to stay.

My family enjoyed our stay here. It's at the very end of a steep road and because of this it's very private. No one driving by, no extra noise because it's at the end of the road. The cabin is clean and beautiful. May want to bring extra paper towels and garbage bags. The kitchen is nicely stocked and we also loved the hot tub. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful setting. The cabin has been updated since the photos were taken. There are three private bedrooms with queen/full beds and the basement has a bunk bed, one full mattress, one a twin.
Everything was provided. Thank you!

Great place to stay that was extremely clean and had everything I could need in the kitchen. Close to the gorge, but super private and quiet. The entire family wanted to stay longer. We'll definitely be back!

It was a lovely stay, and would definitely recommend. There is a bathroom on all three floors, which was very convenient. The deck was so wonderful, probably my favorite part. The location is gorgeous and the hot tub was working and very lovely. A couple downfalls were, the tv had a line down the screen, dvd player didn't work, a few leaks, and the drive up the hills were not good for smaller cars(potholes). also, the bathtub is not the same than in the photographs, and the foosball table is not there like pictured.
